  • Wheat Kings (inspired by The Tragically Hip) is a smoky grey base with a stunning red/pink to gold shifting shimmer.
  • The Hip is a VERY Canadian band, with pockets of fans in the US. If you missed out on The Tragically Hip, it really is a tragedy. There is nothing like them, and Gord Downie was a master at his craft. He was a brilliant writer and musician, an activist and philanthropist, and one of the most unique performers I have been blessed to see. TW; death.  Gord was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer late in 2015. He kept it hidden from the public until May of 2016, and almost immediately after revealing that he was going to die, he went on tour. The most farewellest of farewell tours. I was able to see them at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, which was one of their last shows. It was SO emotional. I can hardly think about it even now, 6 years later, without welling up. He was captivating. He had a way of connecting with his audience, and he stood on stage and said goodbye to every single section in that arena one by one. They played their final show in his hometown of Kingston, and it was broadcast live on the CBC to an estimated 12 million people. It felt like all of Canada was watching. Ever the activist, in the middle of the set, Downie made a plea for reconciliation with Canada’s Indigenous peoples.
  • The Concert Series consists of shades inspired by bands that I have had the pleasure to see live in concert. It’s a colourful soundtrack of my taste in music.

Understanding Non-Toxic Nail Polishes

All Girly Bits polishes are free of the nastiest chemicals commonly found in many mainstream polishes. Most Girly Bits polishes are 5-free, and all are at least 4-free. At this point, some do contain small amounts of Camphor, but we are moving toward a 100% 5-free (or higher) range of polishes.

There are four chemicals that are particularly dangerous. Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, and Toluene, which could also be toxic with prolonged exposure according to the US Environmental Protection Agency.

So when nail polishes are listed as 4-Free this means that they are free of those four yucky chemicals! YAY for healthier nails!

5-Free nail polishes also do not contain those four ingredients, but in addition, they do NOT contain Camphor either (Camphor can cause your nails to yellow and dry out).

Here at Girly Bits Cosmetics, we care about the environment and your health, and we will always offer the highest quality and healthiest products we can get our hands on.
